RESULTS’ Faith in Action Project is designed to expand our successful advocacy network to communities of faith. RESULTS has successfully trained citizen advocates in creating the political will to end hunger and poverty around the world. Although RESULTS is not a religious organization, we recognize the strength the faith community brings to this work.

So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. But someone will say, ‘You have faith and I have works.’ Show me your faith without works, and I by my works will show you my faith. — James 2:14–18

Communities of faith bring amazing power, commitment, and clarity to the cause of ending poverty. However, faith communities don’t always know how to connect with up-to-the-minute policy research and legislative activity so that they can speak truth to power in appropriate, efficient, and effective ways. In other words, they are abundant in the why — the moral authority to act — but may need help with the how — putting it into action. This is where RESULTS can make the difference. By partnering together, RESULTS and communities of faith can work together as a testament to the power we all have to affect lives of those in need.

They give food, out of love for Allah, to the poor, the orphan, and the slave, saying “We feed you only for Allah’s pleasure — we desire from you neither reward nor thanks.” — Q’uran 76:8–9

Faith calls for compassion and compassion calls for action. Faith communities can take their justice work forward in significant ways with RESULTS’ activist training and the RESULTS community can benefit from the passion and commitment that are characteristic of people of faith. Working together, RESULTS and communities of faith can serve justice by ending the causes of hunger and poverty and relieving suffering around the world.

He that oppresses the poor blasphemes his Maker, but he that is gracious to the poor honors God. — Proverbs 14:3

I love working with RESULTS because I truly feel as if I am making a difference — every day adding to the body of work which will inevitably lead to the end of world hunger, a world of peace and justice . . . in short, the Kin-dom God.

— Cynthia Tschampl, RESULTS Activist, Boston, MA

RESULTS is an inspiring organization that has done more for my spiritual growth than anything I have ever done. To do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with my God. RESULTS supports me in my good intentions to do exactly that.

— Nancy Daniels, RESULTS Activist, Topeka, KS

[O]ne of the main venues for my outreach efforts had been the Unitarian Church of which I am a member . . . [Y]ou never know where your allies are and sometimes they take a while to cultivate, but don’t be afraid to reach for the values you hold in common with your faith community leaders.
