Economic Justice

Haitian Shoe SellerThroughout the world, the poor are too often excluded from economic decisions that impact their lives.

On the individual level, the world's poor are ignored by the traditional banking system because they lack the collateral to be given even a small loan. They're too poor to purchase health insurance, and they often don't have a safe place to save their earnings.

On the macro level, economic decisions that affect the poor are made with little or no input from them or the organizations that represent them. In indebted countries, the World Bank and the IMF have more control than citizens over their government’s policies. Trade and investment agreements are negotiated in secret meetings, and the agreements frequently establish enforcement bodies made of unelected, unaccountable parties.

RESULTS is part of a broad community calling for economic justice. Specifically, we're pushing for individual access to financial services and macroeconomic policies that improve access to health care and education.
