New threats are looming – take action now

We’ve seen unprecedented attacks on anti-poverty programs in the past year, and unfortunately those threats only continue to accelerate.

Just a few weeks ago, the White House urged states to take Medicaid away from people struggling to find work. House Speaker Paul Ryan is signaling he would like to push legislation that would do the same for other federal assistance programs.

Will you let your members of Congress know that you oppose cuts to federal assistance programs for any reason?

Taking away health care, food, and other assistance from people who are already struggling to survive is not only wrong, but it’s bad policy. Struggling families need employment and training opportunities, and imposing work requirements without this support won’t help anyone move out of poverty. We should be providing people with the resources they’ll need to get back on their feet and thrive — not enacting harmful punishments under the guise of “workforce development.”

Some lawmakers are already raising concerns, so your voice is crucial right now. Please email your members of Congress and tell them that any cuts to anti-poverty programs are unacceptable.

Thanks for all you do.
