Group Effort Leads to Letter in Chicago Tribune

Chicago partners are happy to say that we got another media hit for Global Education and this one was truly a team effort! The story of how it came to be shows how we can work together to take advantage of media opportunities.

RESULTS partner Julia Bolz had a great article in the Seattle Times about her work in Afghanistan to educate girls. Richard Smiley (group leader for Chicago-Oak Park) and I found out about it from the RESULTS listserv (an on-line group for RESULTS media happenings). Richard circulated the article around to our community of local allies in Bread for the World. Shortly, a Bread member let us know it also ran in the Chicago Tribune. Richard and I both submitted separate letters — each addressing a different angle — to let the Trib editor know that more that one person cares about Global Education. We are very excited that they printed one of our letters! (We’re less excited that they changed her name to “Julie Bolls,” but, hey . . . as long as they spell “Global Fund for Education” right, I don’t mind too much!) Thanks to everyone involved!!!
