February 2010 Global Call: Effectiveness of Global Fund + Appropriations

February 17, 2010
by Ken Patterson, Global Grassroots Manager

The February 2010 Global Call focused on the power of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and our need to weigh in on appropriations process on the Global Fund and other effective solutions. The world looks to the U.S. for leadership, so our requests to members of Congress to fund the Global Fund are key as the Global Fund seeks replenishment. Ernie Loevinsohn, vice chair of the Global Fund board was our guest speaker, and Joanne Carter, RESULTS executive director, opened the call.

Jen Maurer, Senior Global Policy Associate, laid out the appropriations request process, Blair Hinderliter, Communications Director, laid out upcoming media opportunities on education and tuberculosis (March 24 is World TB Day). Ken Patterson, global grassroots manager, talked about citizens as supervisors and Heather Stein and Bruce Preville did great grassroots shares. Lisa Marchal lead the laser talk on making our appropriations requests.

Stay in action and up-to-date.
