Diana Fertsch: “I’m making my money go farther”
“My practice serves families that are working multiple jobs to make ends meet: single parents, young mothers, grandparents raising children. The children are often living in suboptimal conditions, which make them even more vulnerable to illness and disease. About 40 percent are eligible for some kind of medical assistance. “But more and more, I see families with inadequate health coverage. These plans are not covering services recommended for children, like vaccinations, which are expensive. Some families go without any insurance because out-of-pocket expenses are escalating.” RESULTS gives Diana a means to take the concerns raised in her office to the national level by advocating for universal health care and other anti-poverty efforts. She and her husband have also been giving to RESULTS on a monthly basis for years. “We became monthly sponsors because we know the money we give RESULTS ultimately leverages a much bigger sum of money, money that funds the programs that make a difference in the lives of vulnerable people.
