Diana Fertsch: “I’m making my money go farther”

Diana and Steve Fertsch“I’ve always had a fire in my belly working for the underserved, so RESULTS is a natural place for me to explore advocacy on a bigger level,” says Dr. Diana Fertsch, a pediatrician in Baltimore. Diana sees the tragedies caused by our nations’ flawed health system daily.

“My practice serves families that are working multiple jobs to make ends meet: single parents, young mothers, grandparents raising children. The children are often living in suboptimal conditions, which make them even more vulnerable to illness and disease. About 40 percent are eligible for some kind of medical assistance.

“But more and more, I see families with inadequate health coverage. These plans are not covering services recommended for children, like vaccinations, which are expensive. Some families go without any insurance because out-of-pocket expenses are escalating.”

RESULTS gives Diana a means to take the concerns raised in her office to the national level by advocating for universal health care and other anti-poverty efforts. She and her husband have also been giving to RESULTS on a monthly basis for years.

“We became monthly sponsors because we know the money we give RESULTS ultimately leverages a much bigger sum of money, money that funds the programs that make a difference in the lives of vulnerable people. The $125 per month that we give is less than our monthly health club membership, and we get a lot more value out of RESULTS.”

If you, too, see the power of RESULTS’ work, please consider funding it on a monthly basis. Monthly donations, which can be as little as $10/month, provide RESULTS and RESULTS Educational Fund the stable resources we need to reach our mission of empowering everyday people and ending poverty in the U.S. and around the world.
