“The New Jim Crow” Virtual Book Club, 8pm ET

April 13, 2017

The intersection or race, poverty, and oppression has been of growing interest and concern for RESULTS volunteers over the last few years. Last year, volunteers read “Between the World and Me” by Ta-Nehisi Coates and then discussed it amongst their groups. Volunteers and staff also went through anti-oppression training in 2016. To continue this conversation and raising of awareness, we are hosting a “virtual book club” to discuss The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration In the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander. If you are interested in exploring the relationship between advocacy and anti-oppression and better understand the link between racism and incarceration rates in America, please join us.

We will discuss chapters 4 and 5 of the book on this webinar. This is the third webinar (of four) in this series; if you did not attend the previous sessions, you are still welcomed to join us.
